Well GUB usually focuses a little more on computer technology rather than household cleaning technology, but this piece of cleaning equipment definitely needs a mention. I hate vacuuming, and I hate dust. Two problems that don’t go together.

The makers of Dyson DC08 Original claims to solve both of these problems, and so far so good. What you notice when using one of these little beauties, is that there is no dust being flung up into the atmosphere as you vacuum. Zilch, nada, absolutely none–from what I could tell.

The wireless mouse market is growing exponentially. In the market for a new mouse I tried to make some sense of the range out there. At the top end, there seems to be some mice, in the $100-$200 market, that appear to be trying to replace the PC itself - email buttons, notification LEDs, all manner of gadgets. They are the size of a small brick and look, well, kind of stupid.

I prefer the mouse that lets you use it left or right handed, still resembles a mouse, and doesn’t over do it with buttons that I find are easy to hit and launch all manner of things on the PC when you’re in the middle of something else. So we take a look at the grandly named Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000.

We have just become aware of a great program that adds features to Skype that really increase functionality and usefulness of VoIP. The best and most useful feature is a voicemail function, so people calling you on Skype can leave a message. Just like a normal answering machine.

You can also record calls so if you are doing an interview over Skype you can make it into an audio file right there and then as you go.

Best of all, the basic version of Pamela is gratis. This is its best feature, and the creators have sensibly done this with the view that once you’re hooked on Pamela you’ll want to upgrade to the Standard, Pro of Business packages which bring even more functionality to your Skype.
