Portable applications - launching apps from USB flash memory

Well, it’s taken me a while to get around to looking into this (now old) phenomenon of portable applications. What are they? Quite simply they are applications that launch from a USB memory stick so they can be run on just about any computer without leaving any personal data or program information on the host computer.

This really is a great innovation. I don’t know what took me so long but I just started using these programs and they’re very handy. The image above is from PortableApps.com who have created a suite of applications that will run from a USB stick. Best of all the applications are free.

Sony Wireless Stereo Headset DR-BT21G

I’ve read a number of reviews about these headsets. Generally positive but a couple of negative ones. I have found these headsets to be a great improvement over my previous Blueant X5 headsets - but I stress not because I think the Blueant’s are rubbish. They’re not.

And the Sony DR-BT21G headsets are a serviceable next generation on from the X5’s. They are smaller in their form factor, have a hidden condenser microphone in the headset piece itself, and pack a reasonable punch as far as music performance goes.
