Well, here’s a rather odd situation. It seems many people are having trouble installing Adobe’s new and very expensive Master Collection CS3 on Vista computers. Now, this seems astonishing but particularly annoying if you have just spent up to $3,500 on the new software.
There is an awful lot of dodgy looking solutions being proposed, but I’d like to highlight the one that seems most sensible.
There are a range of things you can do to address the Adobe Master Collection installation issue but it seems the first thing to try is the following, which was made available at the Adobe site but is not yet running to the top of the search results in Google:
Essentially is registers this dll in your library so that the installer can run properly in Vista. If you are having this problem I suggest trying this one first.
Other solutions appear to be re-installing windows, reformatting your hard drive and other rather complex and outlandish solutions. Installing new software shouldn’t mean having to go do such lengths.
It is astonishing that Adobe has let this situation occur. For people who have had to wait a considerable length of time for the software to be available, it must be frustrating in the extreme to not be able to install it.
This situation isn’t isolated to Master Collection it seems but is occurring with a lot of their CS3 product.
