I have managed to install ip2nation and its associated WordPress plugin. It took a little bit of fiddling but then I am pretty much PHP challenged! You can scroll down on any page and find it in the left side bar.
The trickiest part was making it work with wp-useronline from Lester Chan. It was possible but it took a bit of tweaking to get the thing to work with ip2nation code from Planet OZH.
But both of them are now working and look okay. I was also trying to get a flag to display per user online, but so far haven’t been able to achieve that. This can be done in the useronline page function, but I haven’t seen it in the sidebar. Maybe it’s not possible. [more]
You also need to install ip2nation into your WordPress database that was reasonably easy and straight forward (make sure you back up the database in case you do anything crazy to it).
In any event, I’m happy to have got this far. Each time you do something you learn a little bit more about WordPress and coding in PHP. It’s always interesting. But now I can get back to posting in my spare time rather than staring intently at the laptop screen waiting for some inspiration.
Thanks to GaMerZ and Planet Ozh for the plugins.
