Comments on: Strong HD Set Top Box SRT5400

I own a Strong set top box SRT5400. I have had this unit changed four times as all of th units were losing audio. After the fourth unit I gave up. The problem I have encounted recently is that I have lost two channels. I can not get SBS and Channel 7. I have contacted Strong Technologies three times however they do not get back to you. I do not rate this product at all as not only have I had trouble with four units, the customer service does not exist at all. Best to stay clear of this product.

I have a chance to buy the Strong 5490 PVR for $330, has anybody got one, whats your opinion of the unit? this is reduction of $400-$470, on advertised prices by other retailers. ie, Hantrex. I rang Strong, they quoted $1000 for the unit. My other option is to buy the Strong hd box for $130

Thanks Stuart, but don't be do hard on me. When I got the strong stb, they didn't have a PVR version! And they only released it subsequent to the Beyonwiz – I just couldn't wait for an HD PVR – call me impatient but there you go. If you want the best PVR on the market, I'd strongly consider a look at the Beyonwiz.

ive had 3 stbs and by a longway,the strong boxes in my opinion just work.the 24/7 help with tec is great too.i agree with many of your comments,but maybe you should have done your homework first and got your self a strong SRT5490 HD PVR which you can record HD.with this machine you can record two shows in HD while watching a pre-recorded programe.also you can record without being on the channel you want record
